Take It For What it Is...

Embrace your beauty…and your booty if you have much of that too
This is something that every women must do
Cover your ears, and blind your eyes
When you hear people talk and point about your beautiful shapely thighs
Always remember those will talk and complain about what they may not have
Because at the end of the day, what they really want to say is damn…she’s bad
Arch you back and put a little pep in your step
Because you'll surely make them see things that they are bound not to forget
Smile a little more when they laugh and when they stare
Maybe it’s you eyes, your body, your mystic, your skin, maybe even your hair
All these things that they are so envious and jealous of
Girl don’t hide it, don’t be ashamed!
Flaunt it, love it ,embrace it

Here's to the Start of Summer!

Summer

I like hot days, hot days

Sweat is what you got days

Bugs buzzin from cousin to cousin

Juices dripping

Running and ripping

Catch the one you love days

Birds peeping

Old men sleeping

Lazy days, daisies lay

Beaming and dreaming

Of hot days, hot days,

Sweat is what you got days.

Daniel Beaty - Knock Knock (Def Jam Poetry)

Little Girls

Little girls, little girls, we have yet to find out who we are,
We have yet to understand where this life will take us and just how far...
Little girls, little girls...we want fairy tale endings, like Cinderella Rapunzel and that bitch that ended up with the beast...
Little girls, little girls, were all products of our environment and the streets.
Little girls, little girls we have got to make a name, not no sh*** like Coca, Mizz Pretty and Butter no, no that shit is lame
Little girls, little girls, we have got to have other things on our minds not a ni*** getting up on his swagga and filling yah head up with his BS games and wack lines
Little girls, little girls, we have yet to inhale our worth and stomach our intelligence, let alone embrace our beauty,
But you'll look up to a B*** with a big booty...
or you'll spend yah money
on remi hair weaves that come in colors like red wine and brown honey
Little girls, little girls, where have all the good little girls gone... I hope back to daddy so he can cradle her in his arms.....
Tell you that there's this more to life then what the media allows you to see
And that I'm a push you to be want you want to be...
I'm a show you the in outs out of this cruel and uncomfortable world....for I'm yah father and you are forever my little girl...

Untitled

She said her name was
My heart fluttered at the first 4
We first met halfway eyes locked in anticipation of a game that instantly stroke as fast as the lash of her lid
A vision of falling as we gazed
Her every breath took my own as I ventured further exploring deep inside
She said her name was
Her virtue was my own as we spread the possibilities of it's warm embrace
Just to start only licking the surface each touch discovered new movement
A sight good enough to eat
Every section defined yet complex
Each lick a taste of heaven
I bite as she explodes screaming
Now sharing my heart flutters at the first 4
She said her name was
She stutters as I push deeper, hand firmly entangled in her hair as i now turn these insides out
One last kiss and she whispers I'm yours
She said her name was
LOVE-Y

Bitter

My heart told me to forgive you my mind told me to forget you.
My eyes told me to hold back my tears.
My mouth told my lips not to quiver with fear.
My hands told my fingers to loosen up my grip.
My legs told my thighs to thrust my hips.
My ears told my face not to listen to the sound of sirens.
All the while he and I both were dying.
Him dying from me and me dying from a broken heart.
A piece of me he had from the start...
But he soiled my sheets all the while tying up my mind.
Lies after lies after lies. .
To naive to listen to a wisdom soul.
And so now I'm be given to ultimate death wish..now I'm considered the bitter bitch.

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I Cry...Rape

I want you to take the time to listen,
Because it was my intuition,
That was leading me to overcome my most profound fear: reliving my nightmare.
So many times I've been afraid, of all the things that happened that day...
I never thought on a warm summer night,
That I would become the victim and be force to put up a fight...
To take away the purity of a young girl...and shadow her into the darkness of the world. My cries and pleas were seized and silenced.
As you proceeded with violence...
I watched as you seen the tear drop fall from my eye,
But deep in your heart you didn't hear my cry.
The broadness of your body crippled my flesh, as you dug your fingers into my chest,
I grimace at the sight of your disgusting face,
And I sadly watch my father disappear out of this place...
As you plea not guilty to your brutally ...of not only raping but killing me...
At fourteen I didn't deserve this, "no incriminating evidence...case dismissed....

Perfectly Blind

Perfectly blind i walk with my hands stretched forth
My feet stutter
My mind wonders, as these hands of mine reach out at first light
The vision I saw was life
My pain, my struggle, my strife
The discord within me triggered her intrigue
I put on my glasses to see clearer as I felt the face of destiny
Her name was
If love is blind then my heart pumps sight,  crazy in love like a knowles in a fight
God is the source of all that I write
Perfectly blind this future shines bright
She wanted to leave so I told her no lies
My love, this lust, surpasses her thighs
Her breath, her touch brings truth to these eyes
There's nothing more true than when a man cries
I'll never let go so the struggle survives, inspired by Angelos and still I rise
Through Faith I have found you, and through you I devise
Our fate, our life, our love miles high
She is my life and life is the prize
Perfectly blind, I see God in her eyes

For those of you interesting a romantic book, fine black man and a complicated life...check out the Nappily Ever Series by author Trisha R. Thomas!! Definitely a GOOD read!! The series consist of six novels portraying the life of determined, attractive and outgoing Venus Johnston. Look into the life of Ms. Johnston who has cut off all of her long relaxed hair and kicked  out her soon to be doctor, live in boyfriend "Clint." However this is just the first of Thomas's many novels. Her seventh book to the Nappily Ever After Series makes its debut in October. Check it out!

Color Complexity

Women…we sit and talk and complain
And grill each other with great disdain…
But to whom do we blame, each other or ourselves?
She’s jealous of my big butt and lush hips
And I’m jealous of her petite frame and perky tits….
She drinks ensures and I call Jenny Craig
But why can’t we just simply talk instead?
Isn’t this what the movie “For Colored Girls” was as all about?
So that we could come together to vent, cry and shout
But we go home and stare in the mirror and pick and do all this prodding
I want…she want‘s…. We want each others body….
I hate her and she hates me…. I’m five two and she’s almost six three
She’s butter cream brown and I’m coffee tone dark
I gain the hearts of men, she tears them apart
Were so different, but still in all we are some what the same
Were both sisters…..ain’t that a shame
We may not have the same mother, brother, father or sister…
but we share the same history
The same history that has me hating her, and her hating me
Talk about color complexity……. This world has me and this girl
Twisted up in a bunch
That she’d rather sit with Sue and Sally and have lunch
But enough said….
Black on Black racism…yea that s*** ain’t dead
